About Acadamy Awards Pickem

This is an office pool - without the office.  Players make their best guesses for this year's Acadamy Awards and we'll compare the results and see who is best.  There are 24 Oscar categories, and yes, that's a lot.  I don't work in the biz and wouldn't know how to vote on many of them.  So, to help out myself and anyone like me, you only need to vote on a minimum of five categories to qualify.  One caveat, though - you must make a selection in the first category (Best Picture).

Five points are awarded for each correct entry, and one point is subtracted for each category missed.  This does a couple of things.  For one, the more you answer correctly, the more points you get.  But losing a point for missing will make accuracy important, too.  You may, for example, answer the big five - best picture, actor, actress, supporting actor and supporting actress, and hope for up to 25 points.  But do you attempt one or more of the possibly tougher categories? If you're wrong, you'll lose a point and possibly drop below other players.  Of course, you could get risky and answer many or all of the categories and see if you're very good or very lucky.  At any rate, it's all for fun.

To play, browse the 'Enter Selections' link above to make your choices and click the Submit button.  Everyone's choices are initially hidden, but will display in the 'Results' link at about 8:25 pm EST on Sunday night (before Sunday night only your name will display).  Then, take a look on Monday and see how you compared to everyone else.
